While doing some friendly pulls with my friends E39 540i M-sport. The noise was amazing, and his car has a muffler delete so all that naturally aspirated BMW noise was just amazing.

I don't like pushing my V6 Mustang to the redline, the engine sounds and vibrates like if it is going to explode.

that's what I like about the inline 6, it just stays smooth and starts pulling.

What year of Mustang? O.o I redline my Z all the time, no problems at all. Though people do often raise the redline is Z33's because the motor can handle more.

BMW I6 are awesome. I've driven an 130i and M235i, and the engines loved to rev.

I really wanna give the m235i a shot, after watching the auto week comparison between an E46 M3 CSL and an m235i (they got the exact same lap times) I've been really interested in trying one out.

It's a 1998 V6 Mustang. That engine is a PoS when it comes to high revving. Hell, redline is at like @4.5K. It does have good low end torque.

Kinja'd!!!

On the other hand, my 2013 5.0 loves to rev, and keeps pulling all across the rev range.

I take my land cruiser to the redline from time to time... it hates it. I guess there is more to it than just being an i6

I got to drive one when I went with a friend (OkCars- 22k Crossroads) to a BMW dealership to see the M235i in the showroom. We were just seeing the car, and a BMW salesman showed up and told us if we liked the car. We started talking with him about stuff like engine, turbo, suspension, and he knew a lot, something not common. He then offered us a test drive, even though I told him I had no intent of buying it.

During the test drive he told me that I was allowed to floor it whenever I wanted.

That car is an incredible machine.

Well its a 1998, their's your problems lmao. They redline at 4.5? Lmao, my variable valve timing only starts to really kick in around 4.5 :P I'd imagine a 13 would like to rev, haha. Come to think of it I've heard one of my friends V6 Stang's of the same generation make some funny noises at high rpm's. Though he also drives the hell out of it constantly.

I don't go past 5k in my 350Z, it sounds best between 4-5k and I don't want to put too much stress on it

Redline is fun! I recorded a couple of redline shifts in my old Audi 90 Quattro 20V. 5-cylindery goodness!

Did you mean "E39" in the headline?

I regularly take my 335 to redline.

I love the engine...in use until 2013 in Daytona Prototypes. dry sump away from a full race engine. They will bury me in this car.

I always think about picking up an e46 M3 and an e39 M5. Both really aren't THAT bad to maintain, and both have amazing engines.

Late model E39 is reliable, and Youtube is full of videos about doing the important stuff yourself. Overall, it's a pretty trustworthy car to own. I can highly recommend. Also, very easy to control sideways.

Yeah, for around $30k I can have a nice E46 M3 and a nice E39 M5. What a stable haha. The forums have also pretty much covered every DIY imaginable too, so nothing is impossible if you have enough willpower.

My kingdom for U.S pricing...A used late model m5 like mine still fetches around 40k AUD, E46 m3 fetches 35K AUD. the exchange at the moment is approx 78cents, but up until late last year, we were at parity with the USD.

Woah! Makes me realize how lucky I am. There are some great deals to be had if you search forums, etc. At least you guys have more RWD V8 manual sedan choices!
